About SageConnect

Overview

SageConnect is a collaborative on-line community for organizations and individual advocates who work on GLBT aging issues. The focus of this exciting new community, sponsored by SAGE (Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders), is sharing モlessons learnedヤ in creating programs for GLBT seniors and engaging in advocacy around GLBT aging. SageConnect provides a space where participating members can exchange information and engage in ongoing communication about their shared interest in creating a better quality of life for GLBT older people.

Who Can Post

SageConnect is an information exchange, so all participating members are encouraged to share their materials and thoughts on programming and advocacy for GLBT older people. There are a variety of ways members can participate ヨ by posting materials in the Resource Center, by posting モPictures of Practiceヤ or POPメs, by posting an event on the SAGEConnect calendar, and by initiating and joining on-line discussions. Registered organizations and their representatives can automatically post a Resource or POP and participate in on-line discussions at any time. (Each registered organization is entitled to up to 3 authorized users who can post materials on the organizationメs behalf.)

Postings of individuals who are not affiliated with an organization are initially screened by the SageConnect moderator to ensure relevance to the purpose of SageConnect. At the SageConnect moderatorメs discretion (usually after 2-3 relevant postings), an unaffiliated individual will be authorized for automatic posting.

Who Can Join

Any organization dedicated to serving and/or advocating for GLBT older people is encouraged to join SageConnect. Registered organizations can add new organizations or individuals as SageConnect members for purposes of viewing posted content. New organizations and individuals who are not sponsored by a registered SageConnect organization, or who wish to post, should fill out the on-line SageConnect membership application.

Each registered organization will be assigned its own SageConnect Workspace. A registered organization can attach an individual to its Workspace upon request, thereby giving registered individuals access to the Workspace. Individuals who are not authorized users cannot access an organizationメs Workspace except at the request of that organization. (Each registered individual is entitled to her/his own Workspace.)

Benefits of Membership

Every registered member is entitled to view all SageConnect materials available to the SageConnect public (i.e. everything except materials posted only in the Workspace of an organization or individual). Every registered member is also entitled to post to SageConnect via the procedures described above. Every registered member can post an event to the SageConnect Calendar, subject to Calendar guidelines.
